Maureen Denise McCormick, the sole child from Richard McCormick and Irene McCormick, was born in Woodland Hills California on 5 August 1956. Her father was a teacher as did her mother, who was a homemaker. Michael Dennis, Kevin and Dennis are her three oldest brothers. McCormick has always loved performing, dancing and putting on show puppets. At the age of six, McCormick old, she won an award in the Baby Miss San Fernando Valley pageant. Pat Domigan at Jack Wormser Agency approached her and asked if she'd like to go into show business. McCormick's first big job was during 1964, when she appeared in a commercial on TV for Mattels new Baby Pattaburp doll. The following year she starred as Chatty Cathy in a commercial before being cast in the show Wind It Up And It's Breaks at the La Jolla Playhouse. The Brady Bunch McCormick's audition was in the company of over 1200 other kids who auditioned for the role of the eldest daughter to be a part of The Brady Bunch. The show starred Florence Henderson and Robert Reed newlyweds, who shared an unmarried family. The show ran for five years. McCormick's memoir Heres the Story, Surviving Marcia Brady: Finding My True Voice was released in 2008. The book revealed the fact that McCormick almost lost her virginity on the stage of the show during the fifth season when it was played by Barry Williams. At the time, she was 16 and he was 19. She said that it would have been feasible, but it was never the best moment to make the decision.
