In America, the early performance arts achievements of the young Maureen FitzSimons (who we know as Maureen O'Hara) would definitely have put her in the category of child prodigies. This was a natural trait for an Irish-born child surrounded by gifted parents and a loving family. Maureen was welcomed into the family-oriented home on August 17, 20th in Ranelagh. Marguerita FitzSimons was a talented contralto. Charles FitzSimons owned the Shamrock Rovers soccer club in Ireland. He also owned a Dublin business. Maureen FitzSimons first FitzSimons children. Peggy FitzSimons Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons James O'Hara made up this family. Maureen was a fan of rough sports as a kid and was very proficient at it. The passion for sports was matched by an unnatural talent for performing. It was evident that she was the winner of each Feis for drama and theater which Ireland could offer. Her acceptance at the Abbey Theater by age 14 as she was able to fulfill her goals of opera as well as classical theatre and singing.
